Petro-Canada has launched an API CJ-4 certified heavy-duty engine oil, Duron-E. Compared to oil meeting the previous CI-4 Plus service category, Duron-E features enhanced soot fighting capabilities and improved wear protection, oil consumption and piston deposits, the company says. Duron-E exceeds API CJ-4 specification for ’07 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-compliant engines, according to the oilmaker.

Duron-E is available in three offerings: Duron-E 15W-40, Duron-E XL synthetic 15W-40 and Duron-E Synthetic 10W-40. The three products demonstrated extended drain capabilities in severe-service field trials in both EGR and conventional diesel engines, Petro-Canada says. Duron-E could be used in pre-’07 models since it carries API CI-4 Plus, CI-4, CH-4 and CG-4 licenses, according to the company.
