In an effort to help improve child safety near its headquarters in Guilford County, N.C., Volvo Trucks North America recently donated more than 750 child safety seats to local community service organizations. The donation is expected to cover the county’s need for the next year.

The organizations — which include SAFE Guilford, Buckled With Love Inc., Junior Luv Buckles and Guilford Child Development — will distribute the child safety seats to low-income families across the county who meet specific eligibility requirements. The first 50 child safety seats were distributed Saturday, June 17, to preselected families at Volvo’s North American headquarters in Greensboro, N.C., as part of “Volvo Safety Day,” a family-oriented series of activities focused on children’s safety and open to the public.

Some of the other safety-related activities during Volvo Safety Day included child identification kits, safety seat inspections by certified child passenger safety technicians, bicycle safety demonstrations and a visit by McGruff the Crime Dog. Plus, two members of America’s Road Team used a tractor-trailer display to demonstrate how motorists can safely share the road with trucks.
