Police are seeking information on a woman who sometimes traveled with truckers who was murdered and left near a Maryland rest area. The body of Dusty Shuck, 25, was found 5:45 a.m. May 4 on the shoulder of eastbound Interstate 70 near Mount Airy in Frederick County, a few yards from a rest area. She had sustained blunt force trauma to her head and lacerations to her neck. Shuck, who had schizophrenia, may have been at a truck stop in Breezewood, Pa., the night before her body was found, according to witnesses.

She was last definitively seen at 2 p.m. April 24 at the Copper Manor Motel in Silver City, N.M. Her method of travel was uncertain, but she previously was known to travel with truck drivers. Rick Bachtell of the Maryland State Police did not disclose whether she had been raped. Police do not know whether this murder is connected to other crimes, but the murderer could repeat his actions, Bachtell said. “Somebody out there is very dangerous,” he said.

The victim was a smoker and had two dragon tattoos on her back with the words “Gypsy Rose” written beneath them. “She moved around frequently, but it was mostly the West Coast before this,” Bachtell said. Shuck had said she was interested in traveling to Canada. Police are asking anyone with information to call 301-644-4151 or 800-492-TIPS (8477).
