Con-way Freight’s regional less-than-truckload carrier, Con-way Freight-Southern, has received the American Trucking Associations President’s Trophy for its low incidence of vehicle and employee accidents.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based company won the same award in 2002 and has won the award again in its first year of eligibility. The company also received a second award for fewest accidents by placing first in the General Commodities LTL/Local Division Over 100 Million Miles category.

To be eligible for the awards, the company’s safety record, safety training and preventive programs were evaluated and audited by the ATA’s Safety & Loss Prevention Management Council.

Bob Orwig, director of safety for Con-way Freight-Southern, will accept the awards on behalf of the company at the council’s annual meeting in September.
