One of the first online marketplaces for shipping services, uShip Inc., has announced that it now has more than 30,000 transportation service providers as registered members.
Founded in 2003, the company allows its members to list items they need shipped, from household goods to vehicles to freight, on its website, www.uship.com, for free. Members then receive bids from feedback-rated service providers, including movers, carriers, transporters, van lines, freight brokers and independent service providers.
Typically, thousands of active shipments are listed on the site each day, allowing transportation service providers to locate jobs along their routes and bid on shipments that will fill empty cargo space and maximize earnings.
