Today’s “Tech Talk with TMC,” a segment that airs on XM Satellite’s “The Dave Nemo Show” every Tuesday, will discuss in a noncommercial format the different functions and performance of auxiliary power units and other information truck operators should know before choosing.

Will Watson, vice president of sales and marketing for Auxiliary Power Dynamics, will explain, among other things, the differences between APUs and gensets. He’ll explain why knowing an APU’s British thermal unit rating is critical to determining if it can offer the comfort truck operators need. Watson, who also will discuss a proposal to develop industry standards for APUs, will take questions from live callers.

“Tech Talk with TMC” can be heard during today’s “The Dave Nemo Show” starting at 10 a.m. Eastern time, 9 a.m. Central and 7 a.m. Pacific on XM’s Open Road Network Channel 171. “The Dave Nemo Show” can be heard from 7 a.m. to noon Eastern time, 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Pacific daily.

Watson has been involved in the transportation industry for 14 years and is also a member of the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations. “APUs can be an important investment for truck operators in providing driver comfort, idle reduction and significant fuel saving for many years,” Watson says. “But operators need to know how to choose the right ones.”
