ALK Technologies has announced the release of PC*Miler|FuelTax 12, which the company describes as the most comprehensive and accurate fuel tax reporting software available for motor carriers and private fleets.

The new version is the 12th annual release of the enterprise business solution, and 2006 marks the 20th annual release of PC*Miler; new features for this update include 53-foot routing availability and a Tractor Odometer Report designed to allow the user to see the odometer readings for each tractor.

ALK says PC*Miler|FuelTax automates the entire fuel tax process. The application is designed to generate rates and forms for all U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions and instantly calculate fuel and mileage taxes, refunds and credits. The application also provides state mileage summaries, fleet performance reports and quarterly updates for compliance with the International Fuel Tax Agreement and the International Registration Plan provisions, according to the company.

These quarterly updates can be downloaded from ALK’s website at www.alk.com/fueltaxupdates, making up-to-the minute data easier to access. Because revisions are available in this way, up to two weeks is added between the availability of the update and tax filing deadlines, the company says; quarterly tax rates and forms are available immediately and are accessible at all times.

“There are a few key drivers that we consider when developing each new version of PC*Miler|FuelTax,” says Monica Darrow, product manager for Princeton, N.J.-based ALK Technologies. “We leverage our close ties to IFTA to ensure that our product is 100 percent compliant, and we strive to accommodate our customer’s requirements for simplicity and precision.”

PC*Miler|FuelTax is designed to import data from mobile communications and transportation management systems to provide a comprehensive fuel management solution. The application integrates with PC*Miler and PC*Miler|Streets to calculate mileage and trip times automatically, ALK says; the application also can be used as a standalone product, giving the user added flexibility to accommodate the program to company operations.
