ALK Technologies has launched CoPilot FleetCenter, described as a low-cost fleet management solution that delivers tracking, two-way messaging and access to ALK’s Location Based Services (LBS) offerings, including real-time traffic and Points of Interest (POIs). CoPilot FleetCenter is designed to work seamlessly with CoPilot Truck and CoPilot Live GPS navigation solutions from ALK.

ALK says CoPilot FleetCenter is the ideal fleet management and driver retention tool for truckload, less-than-truckload, private and distribution fleets of all sizes. CoPilot FleetCenter is a Web-based fleet management solution connected to wireless-enabled mobile devices running Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 5.0 or Windows XP operating systems. These devices provide spoken directions using ALK’s CoPilot Truck or CoPilot Live Professional and communicate their exact position in real-time to CoPilot FleetCenter.

CoPilot FleetCenter is designed to enable drivers running CoPilot on their mobile devices to leverage the devices’ wireless capabilities to send and receive text messages, receive itinerary updates and communicate vehicle status automatically. Managers, according to ALK, can use a secure Internet portal to view their fleet in real-time; focus on automated exception alert reporting; and achieve improved fleet productivity and asset utilization. Specific customer tracking and delivery status information can be provided via a password-controlled environment.

ALK says this fusion of GPS, navigation and wireless technologies provides high-end fleet management capabilities to fleets of all sizes at a reasonable cost; fleets will realize a significant reduction in avoidable out-of-route, empty and dead-head mileage.

CoPilot FleetCenter features, according to the company include:

  • Geofencing – automatic, real-time notification when a truck enters or leaves a user-defined location;
  • Exception reporting – automatic, real-time notification of defined events such as speeding, trip delays or late starts; and
  • Historical reporting – reports for management review of individual drivers and overall fleet performance.
  • Companies can choose to use the ALK-hosted version of CoPilot FleetCenter or host CoPilot FleetCenter on their own server. Additionally, with the CoPilot Live Professional Software Development Kit (SDK), CoPilot Truck or CoPilot Live can be integrated seamlessly within other third-party applications, ALK says; CoPilot FleetCenter Web Services allows further enterprise integration with back-office systems.
