ALK Technologies — a developer of GPS navigation, mileage, mapping and route guidance software — has launched version 10 of CoPilot Live for laptops and ultramobile PCs (UMPCs). ALK says the advanced GPS navigation system, with brilliant 3D map display, provides spoken turn-by-turn directions to any address in the United States or Canada, coast-to-coast.
“CoPilot Live benefits from 10 years of refinement and provides the most sophisticated laptop GPS solution currently available,” says Dan Titus, senior vice president of mobility solutions for Princeton, N.J.-based ALK Technologies. “This latest version includes significant map data updates, including over 6 million new points of interest. We also added several new user-suggested functions, including the ability to avoid an entire road throughout a state.”
For this release, ALK has integrated 6 million points of interest from InfoUSA with ALK’s own premium points of interest. Major map data enhancement work is included as a result of a nationwide effort to update ALK’s map data for new roads, addresses and updated ZIP codes. CoPilot Live | Laptop 10 also contains the same text-to-speech technology that pronounces complete road names: “In .5 miles turn left onto 1000 Herrontown Road.”
New to version 10 is ALK’s Software Development Kit (SDK) designed to enable the seamless integration of CoPilot Live with other mobile applications.
