C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. announced today, Dec. 1, that it has acquired Triune Freight Private Ltd. and Triune Logistics Private Ltd., a third-party logistics provider in India. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. C.H. Robinson, based in Minneapolis, says the purchase of Trinue will help it expand its international freight-forwarding network.

Triune — which employs about 160 people and posts annual revenue of about $11 million — provides mostly air and ocean international freight forwarding, as well as customs clearance services, C.H. Robinson said in a statement. Like C.H. Robinson, Triune is a non-asset based company.

C.H. Robinson Vice President Jeff Scovill says the acquisition provides the company with a presence in India and a platform to develop its network further into Southeast Asia. The company says T.J. Srinivasaraj, managing director of Triune, would continue with the company as C.H. Robinson’s director of the Indian subcontinent.
