New Century Transportation, a provider of hybrid truckload and LTL services, announced Friday, Dec. 1, that it has acquired Western Freightways, a Colorado-based load-to-deliver service provider. Terms of the transaction were not announced.

“We’re extremely pleased to have Western Freightways as a new operational partner in our organization,” says Harry Muhlschlegel, chairman and chief executive officer of Westampton, N.J.-based New Century. “This agreement will enable our company to continue to further enhance its already established reputation for outstanding client service. We are pleased that both companies share a common model of hybrid ‘load-to-deliver’ LTL service, and a common culture based on premium performance. In addition, it offers numerous operational synergies that will make both companies more competitive in the marketplace, and will provide an exciting place for all of our employees to thrive.”

Under the arrangement, Western Freightways will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of New Century, which says the acquisition marks a significant expansion for the company into new markets and services.

“Our team has enjoyed an excellent reputation servicing our many long-term customers,” says Marc Haney, Western Freightways president. “Our employees’ extensive industry knowledge has contributed significantly to Western’s profitable growth over the years. We’re very pleased to join the New Century team, where we will have access to industry best practices and resources that will foster continued success for our valued customers and our employees.”
