Decker Truck Line, based in Fort Dodge, Iowa, has announced that Dan Welsh has been selected as the December 2006 Driver/Owner-Operator of the Month for the flatbed division. Welsh resides in Pittsburgh, where he enjoys watching the Steelers play football.
Selected as Driver of the Month for the reefer/van division was Dean Filmer, who has been with Decker since August 2000 and has been a trainer for the reefer/van division for the past three years. Filmer lives in Lake City, Iowa, with his wife, Cindy, where they enjoy camping and riding their Harley when Filmer is home from work.
Drivers and owner-operators are nominated each month by their dispatcher and are selected based on their overall performance within all areas of the company, including operational productivity, safety record, maintenance/care of equipment (including idle time), payroll and billing, and customer service. All drivers and owner-operators who are selected as a Driver of the Month will be eligible to be chosen as Driver/Owner-Operator of the Year.
