Diesel prices drop across the nation

Fuel prices dropped a little over 4 cents on average for the week ending Monday, Jan. 8, bringing the national average to $2.54, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. That price is roughly 5 cents higher than the same week last year.

Prices dropped in every region; they fell the most in the Midwest at 5 cents, and the least in the Rocky Mountain region, which reported a drop of 1 cent. Prices were highest in California at $2.85 per gallon, and lowest in the Lower Atlantic region at $2.45.
