Con-way Freight announced that professional truck driver Terry Wheeler was named “Driver of the Month” for February by the Indiana Motor Truck Association. The organization selected Wheeler for outstanding safety and performance, among other criteria. To date, Wheeler has driven for 34 years with zero accidents or injuries. He also has never been cited for a moving violation.

Wheeler, who is based out of Con-way Freight’s Terre Haute, Ind., service center, was honored at a ceremony held last month at the Marriott Indianapolis hotel. To qualify for the IMTA’s “Driver of the Month” award, drivers must live or work in Indiana and drive for an IMTA-member company. The organization selects drivers using a point system based on years of driving, career miles/hours, participation in events, community service, certification programs, heroic events and, if applicable, preventable accidents and/or citations.

“Terry has had a remarkable truck driving career and is truly representative of the ‘best of the best’ in our industry,” says David S. McClimon, president of Con-way Freight. “We congratulate him on achieving this distinction and for setting an outstanding example for our employees.”

Wheeler has been a driver sales representative for Con-way Freight for 20 years and has 34 years of total driving experience. Prior to joining Con-way Freight, he was employed by Underwood Trucklines. Wheeler resides in Brazil, Ind.
