Utility Trailer — a manufacturer of dry freight vans, reefers, flatbeds and Tautliner curtainsided trailers — recently participated in the Cascade Sierra Solutions Open House, which showcased more than 40 fuel-saving equipment manufacturers.

Formed in 1996, Cascade Sierra Solutions offers a complete Washington-to-California corridor approach to fuel efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gases. The nonprofit organization offers the trucking industry an easy, comprehensive approach that enables truckers to meet the EPA’s SmartWay Transport program standards for fuel efficiency and emission reductions.

Cascade Sierra Solutions offers financing, installation, contracting, monitoring and certification of the products available today employing the latest fuel-saving and pollution-cutting technologies. In support of the EPA’s efforts, the organization also offers regulatory advice on the rules governing truck transportation.

Utility Trailer participated in the Cascade Sierra Solutions Open House by showcasing its 4000D-X dry van equipped with the single-tire Wide Track System. The natural accompaniment to other environmentally friendly options, the 4000D-X is designed to take full advantage of the weight savings, safety and increased fuel economy of Michelin’s new-generation wide single tire, the X-One. The wide-track suspension system includes a Hendrickson air-ride slider with 6-inch wider suspension centers and 6-inch longer axles. In addition to the 4000D-X, the Wide Track System also is available on the 3000R reefer.

“Utility Trailer is proud to support Cascade Sierra Solutions’ drive to retrofit existing fleets with the latest technological advances that save fuel and cut emissions,” says Craig Bennett, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Utility Trailer, based in City of Industry, Calif. “We believe in Cascade’s goal of reducing costs, conserving energy, reducing emissions and improving the environment. The Michelin X-One single tire and the Utility Wide Track System are just two innovations that we have implemented in pursuit of these goals. We continue to make enhancements to our product line that result in lower fuel costs, less weight and higher productivity.”
