Ramiro Peru has agreed to join Saint Corp. as its executive vice president and chief financial officer and as a member of its board of directors upon completion of the pending acquisition of Swift Transportation Co., through which Swift will become wholly-owned by Saint.

“Our management group is now complete, and I welcome Ramey to our team,” said Jerry Moyes when making the announcement Friday, May 4. “We are planning to close the acquisition next week, which was approved by more than 99 percent of the Swift stockholders voting at the April 27 meeting, and we’re eager for our entire team to be on the field.”

Peru, 51, recently completed his 28-year career at Phelps Dodge Corp., the largest publicly traded copper producer in the world, which recently sold to Freeport-McMoRan for $26 billion. During his last eight years, he served as CFO, including from October 2004 to March 2007 as executive vice president and member of the three-person office of the chairman.

Peru, who had direct management responsibility for all financial and many other functions at Phelps Dodge, is a member of the boards of directors of Wellpoint and the University of Arizona Foundation, the National Board of Advisors of the Eller Graduate School of Management-University of Arizona, and is a life member of Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
