Distribution Technologies (DistTech), a provider of dedicated and common carriage for liquid bulk commodities, recently opened an expanded terminal in Ironton, Ohio, to better meet the needs of both its customers and drivers. The 9,300-square-foot facility located at 1714 Back Road in Franklin Furnace replaced a smaller, outdated terminal on County Road 400 in Ironton. In addition to a three-bay shop, the building includes a drivers’ room complete with showers and an exercise space.

“By having a maintenance shop on site, we’re now able to make any needed repairs much quicker – which translates into fewer delays and more responsive service for our growing customer base,” says Ray Elliott, logistics manager for the Ironton terminal. “As part of our commitment to our drivers, we now have a more comfortable space with a number of amenities for them to enjoy. It’s just one small way that we can reward our driving team for their dedication to our customers day in and day out.”

“We can now actively pursue customers in the area which were outside the scope of our prior facility due to infrastructure limitations,” says John Rakoczy, chief operations officer for Newbury, Ohio-based DistTech. “This geographic location is also strategically placed in the center point of our Midwest operations, allowing for an increased loaded-mile percentage and enhanced profits.”

The Ironton terminal also recently earned the Sunoco Inc. Transportation Group Carrier of the Facility Award for the manufacturer’s plant in Haverhill, Ohio. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Sunoco has honored DistTech with a service award based on safety and service performance to Sunoco’s customers throughout the year. The criteria includes outstanding on-time delivery, on-time loading and load acceptance.
