Maverick Transportation recently honored professional driver Phil Nibeck of Pine Bluff, Ark., for 20 years of service. An award presentation was held in his honor to reward and recognize his accomplishment. Over the course of Nibeck’s tenure, he has received several awards from the Arkansas-based flatbed carrier, including Driver of the Month honors and a Million Mile Safe Driving Award.

Nibeck, the first driver to reach this milestone with the 27-year-old company, started driving with Maverick on April 14, 1987, when the carrier had just 13 company drivers and 50 owner-operators. “Phil has served Maverick in several capacities, on and off the road, and is always eager to help when and where he is needed,” says Darius Cooper, vice president of operations. “He has seen several changes during his 20-year tenure, and you can always count on him.”

Maverick also announced its first-quarter recipients of Driver of the Month honors for 2007, which included January Driver of the Month Charles Kaufman of Lexington, Ill.; February Driver of the Month Michael Grant of Johnston City, Ill.; and March Driver of the Month Doug Herd of Marionville, Mo. Each driver has received numerous company safety awards and honors, and as Driver of the Month, each recipient also will represent Maverick drivers on the Driver Advisory Council.

Every month, Maverick recognizes a driver from the company’s fleet who takes pride in his profession and the company, employs safety and maintains Maverick standards. Employees vote from the 12 Drivers of the Month, and the Driver of the Year is announced at the end of 2007.
