Top executives from some of the world’s leading LTL and parcel delivery trucking companies will learn from James L. Welch, former president and CEO of a $3.6 billion carrier, Yellow Transportation, how to maximize profits in the trucking industry at the Carrier Logistics Inc. (CLI) Annual Leadership Summit in Tarrytown, N.Y., September 26 through 28.

“All LTL carriers and courier companies are on some level competing with the major players,” said Ken Weinberg, CLI vice president. “Now, James Welch, who ran one of the industry’s ultimate majors, will offer the best tactical tips on how to be a viable competitor to attendees at the CLI Executive Summit conference.”

Welch’s keynote address, “Money Matters – Smart Thinking to Run your Business,” will give transportation company executives the knowledge they need to compete with the industry’s leading carriers now and in coming years. Welch will help attendees visualize the most current and cutting-edge methods of Navigating the Financial Landscape, said Weinberg.

“This is a business conference considering the major issues facing trucking companies today,” Weinberg said. “It is not a technology or software forum, nor is it a user conference.”

Welch will draw on his 30-year tenure in the transportation and logistics industry, leading to his president and CEO role at YRC Worldwide, in addressing the attendees at the CLI-sponsored transportation industry gathering. In addition to his career experiences in the transportation industry, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology and business from West Texas A&M and participated in the Executive Development Program at Yale.

Joining keynoter Welch will be other industry speakers:

Ken Manning, president, TCG (Transportation Costing Group) – how to manage increasing costs

Steve Fox, principal, Norbridge, Inc. – new ideas in pricing

Satish Jindel, principal, SJ Consulting Group, and Sarah C. Copp, vice president, corporate transportation and logistics, Time-Warner – innovative ways to boost revenue
