The Kenworth Clean Power Technology Tour recently completed its five-month, 24,000-mile journey to 75 Kenworth dealerships across America to show customers its new no-idle system and other technologies.

“The Kenworth Clean Power tour was very successful, as we were able to bring the no-idle message directly to many fleets and owner-operators,” says Gary Moore, assistant general manager of marketing and sales for Kirkland, Wash.-based Kenworth. “Kenworth Clean Power is a key environmental solution as California soon implements – and other states consider – five-minute idling regulations that will apply even to sleeper trucks parked for rest during off-hours.”

Kenworth Clean Power is available as a factory-installed option for the aerodynamic T660 with 72-inch AeroCab sleeper. The system uses dedicated, advanced deep-cycle batteries that power a thermal storage cooler with 21,000 BTUs of cooling capacity. Once the truck is shut off, a thermostat regulates the desired temperature, and a variable speed fan circulates chilled air through a duct located near the bunk.

More information on Kenworth Clean Power — including a four-minute video, brochure and potential savings calculator — is available on Kenworth’s website, www.kenworth.com. Kenworth’s dedication to the “green fleet” includes the Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay program, medium-duty hybrid trucks and Kenworth T800 liquefied natural gas trucks.

The technology tour also featured Bendix ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes from Bendix Spicer Foundation Brakes LLC, Kenworth GPS Navigation, high-intensity discharge headlamps and Kenworth Driver Information Center.
