Glacier Computer recently added an XP-based rugged tablet, the Ridgeline, to its forklift and mobile line of industrial harsh environment computers. The Ridgeline Tablet, a 10.4-inch rugged tablet with integrated touchscreen interface, was designed and tested to withstand repeated 3-foot drops to concrete, as well as IP 65 sealing mandates.

The unit, a full-screen Windows-based computer, comes with integrated 802.11 a/b/g radio, Bluetooth, numerous I/O and many hard drive options. Users can input data via touch or pen, the company says, and special software allows for signature capture and character recognition.

“The Ridgeline was designed for rugged portable applications commonly experienced in industries such as freight, construction, utility and manufacturing,” says Dan Poisson, Glacier director of engineering.
