New Penn — an operating unit of YRC Regional Transportation, a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc. — recently increased base rates 5.5 percent, which applies on minimum charge, less-than-truckload and truckload shipments. The standard minimum charge, below which no freight bill may be reduced, will increase a similar percentage, the company says.

New Penn, based in Lebanon, Pa., says it continues to invest heavily in technology, facilities and rolling stock in order to maintain best-in-class service to its customers. “We are committed to our tradition of providing high-value award-winning Northeast regional next-day delivery while also providing high-quality interregional service throughout the Continental U.S., Alaska, Puerto Rico and Canada,” the company said in a written statement.
