The Unified Carrier Registration Agreement has announced that the national online system for motor carriers to register and pay the fees due under UCRA is now open for 2008 carrier registrations. The website is located at www.ucr.in.gov.
The great majority of states that participate in the UCRA program use only this website to register their carriers, and all of the states will accept registrations made through the site. The 2008 fees and fee structure for UCRA are the same as they were in 2007.
The states participating in UCRA also have generally agreed that they will begin enforcing payment of the 2008 fees on June 1 this year. A few states may enforce the requirements among their own based carriers as early as May 1, and some may delay enforcement until July 1, but no state will be enforcing UCRA on other states’ carriers before June 1.
As was the case last year, motor carriers subject to UCRA soon will be receiving a notice from their base state that it’s time to register.
