The National Biodiesel Foundation introduced the BioTrucker Fuel Card on Wednesday, March 26, at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

It’s an extension of the foundation’s outreach that includes the Biotrucker.com website and the 866-BIODIESEL hotline. “Truckers are always asking us were they can find biodiesel,” said Tom Verry, the board’s executive director. “The BioTrucker Fuel Card not only helps them find biodiesel, but helps them save money when they purchase biodiesel.”

When used at one of 151 fuel stops nationwide, the card gets users the cash discount price for fuel, whether biodiesel or regular diesel. Three stops – Sapp Bros. in Peru, Ill.; Waddy Unocal 76 in Waddy, Ky.; and the Drivers Truck Stop in Fort Worth, Texas – offer an additional 2-cents-per-gallon discount for biodiesel purchases. “Anything any other fuel card offers, we have as well,” Verry said, including the lack of any transaction fee from in-network stops.

Administered by Fleet One, the BioTrucker Fuel Card can be used like a credit card or debit card. It comes with a one-time $25 sign-up fee and is accepted at all major truckstop chains and many independent truck stops, 4,900 locations in all. Buying out of the 151-location network, however, incurs a $1 transaction fee that will go to biodiesel research and promotion.
