Heating and cooling solution manufacturer Webasto announced at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., that it has launched a video on YouTube using humor and graphics to draw attention to the Lowering Emissions and Particulates website (www.makealeap.org).

The LEaP website, launched in 2007, is a user-friendly nonprofit educational database on idling laws and regulations from state and local governments across the United States. LEaP’s mascot, a green frog, is a theme throughout the website and the Webasto video (www.youtube.com/MakeALEaP).

“One area where Webasto’s products have been ahead of technology trends is in environmental consideration and consciousness, so this site and what it attempts to achieve is a logical initiative for us to lead,” said John Thomas, Webasto vice president of marketing. The website is noncommercial, and Webasto’s competitors are listed alongside them under environmental products.

Webasto said it also has received certification for several of its heating and cooling products that meet or outperform new California standards for air quality that took effect Jan. 1. Approved heaters include the Webasto Air Top 2000 S and Air Top 2000 ST compartment air heaters, and the Thermo Top Z/C engine coolant preheater.

A fourth Webasto Product — BlueCool Truck, which provides cool air to a truck’s bunk in hot weather — did not need review because it has no emissions, the company said.
