PeopleNet announced it has formed a partnership with J.J. Keller Consulting Services to form the PeopleNet/J.J. Keller Safety Program, which the companies call the most comprehensive set of safety and regulatory compliance resources in the fleet industry.
PeopleNet is a provider of intelligent onboard communications and fleet management solutions, while J.J. Keller & Associates Inc. is a provider of regulatory compliance products and services. According to Rick Ochsendorf, vice president of operations for Minneapolis-based PeopleNet, the need for a comprehensive, analytical consulting source arose from the adoption and implementation of PeopleNet’s driver log automation application, eDriver Logs.
“As we successfully implemented that program in more and varied fleets, we found that many were struggling to meet legal safety requirements and, more importantly, maximize fleet safety on the road,” Ochsendorf says. “We found that the roots of safe operations and positive compliance run deep within trucking organizations. Drivers are critical, of course, but so is dispatch, administration, planning and more. That’s why we’ve created this partnership of the best and the best.”

On the PeopleNet side of the partnership, PeopleNet Professional Services will help fleets maximize the benefit of eDriver Logs through planning and training. Planning will include establishing ROI and using eDriver Logs data to enhance load planning and dispatch. Training will include managing drivers who challenge the program, dealing with violations in real time and ultimately using eDriver Logs to improve driver relations and retention.
J.J. Keller Consulting Services will help fleets build safety programs from the ground up by analyzing existing policies and procedures and recommending changes. They might address general motor carrier safety, vehicle maintenance practices, drug and alcohol testing, hazardous materials, workplace safety and specific issues involving the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
