Magtec Products, Inc. met with senior executives of the American Trucking Associations last week, including ATA President and CEO Bill Graves, to present its technology solutions for addressing security, safety and fuel cost challenges in the transportation industry.
“We know the ATA works hard to protect the interests of the trucking industry, and in the current light of the fuel crisis, we wanted to ensure they were aware of our new Speed & Idle Management (SIM) technology, along with other important solutions we bring to industry challenges,” says Robert Morisset, Magtec president and chief executive officer.
MAGTEC’s FleetControl and M5K focuses on driver and truck control, asset tracking and security, prevention of cargo theft, and safety and risk management. The new SIM feature enables the carrier to remotely set and control speed thresholds and idle time, enabling significant savings in fuel and operations costs. Also, its geo-fencing capabilities make it ideal when trucks are entering different speed limit areas.

The M5K has many features including keyless driver authentication and Unattended Idle Protect. When interfaced with its own FleetControl, or another communications provider, the system can be managed from a dispatch or monitoring center and offers features such as remote driver code management, tamper notification to dispatch and Magtec’s Acceleration Control System (ACS). ACS is a key differentiator between Magtec’s M5K and other vehicle immobilization technologies as it enables dispatch to remotely limit the acceleration capability of the vehicle and reduce the speed in preset increments so it can be brought to a safe and controlled stop, the company says.
