Illinois DOT releases 6-year $10.9B highway program

The Illinois Department of Transportation has outlined a $10.875 billion Highway Improvement Program for the next six years; $7.79 billion will be for state highways, and $3.08 billion is for local roads.

Of the state highway portion, $5.6 billion will be for roadway maintenance, safety and bridge repair, including $477 million for a new Mississippi River Bridge crossing.

The IDOT plan, released Thursday, May 22, also intends to replace or rehabilitate 905 bridges and to improve 5,264 miles of highways.
