McLeod Software — a provider of dispatch, accounting and enterprise management solutions and document imaging for trucking and brokerage firms — said Tuesday, July 8, that the first half of calendar year 2008 ended with record sales, a 32 percent increase over the same period in 2007.
Crediting the release of its LoadMaster IX and PowerBroker II V.9.0 products in April, McLeod said it posted an 84 percent overall sales increase in the second quarter of 2008 compared to 2007. The company said its upgrade and new business sales showed triple-digit increases in two of the past three months compared to the same period last year.
McLeod said it also hired 13 new staff members at its headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., and training facilities in Salt Lake City since the beginning of the year. New hires filled positions ranging from developers and business analysts to product managers, implementation consultants and technical specialists as increased demand created the need to staff a variety of positions, according to the company.
First-half sales resulted in 60 new V.9.0 LoadMaster and PowerBroker II customers, including Paramount Transportation Logistics Services LLC (R&L Carriers’ truckload and brokerage divisions), Roehl Transport Inc., Earl L. Henderson Trucking Co., E.W. Wylie Corp., Greenbush Logistics Inc. and CEMEX Transporte (Mexico).
“Both our upgrade and new customers realize in a grueling business environment such as this that successful companies must invest in productivity tools and professional training to maximize their efficiencies,” said Rick Halbrooks, vice president of sales and marketing. “Very few companies budgeted for a 65 percent increase in fuel costs, so it’s more important than ever for them to automate throughout the operation and identify ways to cut excess expense. We’re pleased that they see McLeod Software as having technology solutions that truly improve their operations — not just to get through this challenging economic time, but to help keep them profitable down the road.”
