Freightliner Trucks on Monday, Aug. 11, announced the availability of Dometic under-bunk refrigerators as a new option for the Cascadia. The refrigerator includes a slide-out drawer designed to ease driver access and can serve as a refrigerator or freezer based on thermostat setting. The under-bunk design helps save shelf space for additional storage options.

Designed with steel exteriors with protective coating and high-impact polystyrene, the refrigerator — DC-powered by a Danfoss 12/24-volt compressor — is easy to clean and maintain, Dometic says. Additional features, according to the company, include a large condenser system that helps protect against failures from compressor overheating, and automatic low-voltage and high-pressure cutouts for extra protection.

The refrigerators now are available to order in all Cascadia sleeper cabs. “The Cascadia is known for its roomy, plush cab and comfort features, and the new under-bunk refrigerator only enhances the driver’s environment,” says Melissa Clausen, director of product marketing for Portland, Ore.-based Freightliner Trucks.
