Report discusses preference for in-house preventive maintenance

The Q3 2008 issue of the Fleet Sentiment Report published by CK Commercial Vehicle Research includes discussion regarding the current truck industry topic of where commercial fleets prefer to have preventive maintenance completed on their vehicles.

Past survey responses as well as current interviews with fleet representatives by Columbus, Ohio-based CKCVR indicate that, where possible, many fleets still prefer to complete preventive maintenance tasks in-house with their own technicians. The overriding reason is control; not just control of the vehicle and how long it’s down for service, but also control of service quality, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, costs, recordkeeping and replacement component brands.
