America’s Road Team Captain Chris Serviss was a featured speaker at the 2008 World’s Largest Truck Convoy on Saturday, Sept. 20, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the American Trucking Associations announced. Serviss, a relay driver for Wal-Mart Transportation, talked to the attendees of the event about safety and the image of the trucking industry.

The World’s Largest Truck Convoy is a one-day celebration that helps raise money for the Special Olympics. “The Special Olympics is a great organization,” Serviss says. “It’s an opportunity to raise money for a great cause and participate in an event that I feel will really make a difference.”

Serviss has been active in the World’s Largest Truck Convoy events near his home in Delaware and Maryland for many years. He also is active in the annual Pennsylvania and Virginia charity Truck Driving Championships.

The America’s Road Team, sponsored by Volvo Trucks North America, is a national public outreach program led by a small group of professional truck drivers who share superior driving skills, remarkable safety records and a strong desire to spread the word about safety on the highway.
