Marten Transport, a major long-haul truckload carrier providing protective service transportation, and GE Asset Intelligence, a global provider of fleet management products and services for trailers, containers and railcars, announced an agreement whereby Marten’s fleet will be equipped with GE’s VeriWise technology. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Marten will equip approximately 4,200 of its refrigerated trailer fleet with VeriWise technology to improve fuel efficiency. “With the VeriWise technology, Marten will now have a better view of their overall trailer inventory which will increase their fleet utilization and assist with fuel efficiency,” said Darryl Miller, chief operating officer of GE Asset Intelligence.
A typical over-the-road reefer carrier will spend approximately $4,600 per trailer a year in reefer fuel. Working together, both companies think they can reduce Marten’s reefer fuel consumption by approximately one gallon per unit each day. Using VeriWise technology, a fleet the size of Marten’s could have an annual fuel savings of 8 percent.

Today, VeriWise units are installed on transportation assets in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe.
