ArvinMeritor elects Novak executive officer

ArvinMeritor Inc. announced Tuesday, Feb. 10, that its board of directors elected Barbara Novak, vice president and secretary, an executive officer of the company, effective Jan. 30.

“Barbara has been an asset to the company since joining us in 2007,” says Vernon Baker II, senior vice president and general counsel of Troy, Mich.-based ArvinMeritor. “She brings a great degree of knowledge and insight in general corporate and securities matters, and is a very talented and respected member of our executive team.”

Novak, who has been with ArvinMeritor since December 2007, advises the company, including the board, on issues concerning compliance with applicable corporate governance standards and requirements. She also provides legal counsel on federal securities laws and executive compensation and is the principal legal contact for treasury and finance issues.

Prior to joining the company, Novak held corporate legal counsel positions of increasing responsibly at automotive companies, such as TRW Automotive, Delphi and Collins and Aikman.
