Brad Aitken, director of business development for TransCore’s tracking and communications (GlobalWave) business unit, has been elected to the board of governors for the NPTC Institute. The NPTC represents private truck fleets and provides training and certification programs to advance the professional skill and knowledge of its members.

“I look forward to joining my colleagues from leading private truck fleets and related industry providers on the board of governors,” Aitken says. “In today’s economy, private fleets face critical challenges in optimizing supply chain efficiencies. The NPTC plays a key role in providing the research and training that can help these truck fleets cut costs, add value, improve service and achieve greater returns.”

More than 25 years ago, Aitken began his career as a truck load dispatcher. He worked in virtually all aspects of operations management before owning and operating his own trucking company for 10 years.

For the past decade, Aitken has worked closely with TransCore customers to define crucial requirements for the Portland, Ore.-based company’s trailer-tracking and in-cab communications products. TransCore says its serves more than 675 commercial fleets with 175,000 mobile units deployed.
