Ryder System Inc. announced that United Stationers Supply Co., North America’s largest broad-line wholesale distributor of business products, has selected Ryder to provide Dedicated Contract Carriage services. Ryder also announced it has been awarded a DCC contract with Milo’s Tea Co. Inc., a manufacturer of ready-to-drink refrigerated tea products in the Southeast region.

Under the contract with United Stationers, Ryder will support United Stationers’ transportation operations by providing vehicles, drivers, technology, fleet management and vehicle maintenance services. The dedicated team of drivers will support the same- and next-day delivery of products from United Stationers’ distribution center in Cranbury, N.J., to resellers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

“We needed a reliable partner who could standardize and improve transportation processes, provide delivery reliability to our resellers, and drive significant savings throughout our transportation operations,” says Oran Ashley, vice president of transportation for United Stationers. “We have confidence in Ryder’s transportation and logistics capabilities and in their commitment to maintain and improve customer service levels.”

Ryder describes its DCC offering as a customized suite of transportation management services for the delivery of a customer’s products that optimizes its fleet operations and allows its management to be more focused on core business issues. “Ryder is pleased to support United Stationers’ distribution requirements, and we look forward to contributing to United Stationers’ quality products and commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction,” says John Sonia, Ryder’s vice president of operations for DCC.

Under the multiyear contract with Milo’s Tea, Ryder will provide dedicated delivery services of Milo’s Tea products from its distribution center in Bessemer, Ala., to retail stores throughout the state. “Ryder provided us with an efficient transportation design and competitive pricing that will allow us to enhance our delivery capabilities and quality service to our customers,” says Jay Evers, vice president and chief operating officer for Milo’s Tea Co. “We have confidence in Ryder’s transportation and logistics expertise, and we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.”
