PeopleNet, a provider of Internet-based and integrated onboard computing and mobile communications management, announced that Dufour Petroleum, a wholly owned subsidiary of Enbridge Energy Partners, has chosen PeopleNet’s onboard computing and mobile communication system for its 250-truck private fleet. In order to meet Dufour’s aggressive timeline, PeopleNet developed and is working a full implementation plan that includes dispatcher and driver training, documentation and programming needs.

“We’re in the process of switching our technology to PeopleNet to more fully automate our operation,” says Greg Howell, Dufour fleet analyst. “Our new onboard recorders capture a wealth of real-time data that helps us track our asset costs and manage maintenance and service more proactively. The implementation is moving quickly because PeopleNet is easily integrating with our proprietary back-office software. With PeopleNet data flowing directly into our modules, we’re automating processes like payroll, dispatch and more.”

Dufour distributes its products from wellheads and treating, processing and fractionation facilities to its wholesale customers across the United States, including distributors, refiners and chemical facilities, with a focus on the South and Southeast. Within the next month, PeopleNet’s PACOS will be integrated with Dufour’s dispatch system. The automated messaging and geofencing platform will flow delivery arrival and departure notification data directly into the software. In addition, Dufour will use PeopleNet’s online Fuel Tax Reporting, which combines GPS tracking and fuel purchase information to automatically compute IFTA fuel tax, mile tax, IRP tax and other state taxes.

Dufour also has engaged PeopleNet Professional Services to establish an MPG Guarantee Program, which Howell anticipates will be in full swing by the end of the year to help the company maximize fuel efficiency. In addition, within the next 12 months, Dufour will be adding PeopleNet’s eDriver Logs to take the paperwork out of its traditional hours-of-service logbook process.
