ALK Technologies says it has updated the software and digital map data for PC Miler Navigator, a portable navigation device designed for owner-operators, leased operators and company drivers. Powered by ALK’s CoPilot, PC Miler Navigator is designed as an all-in-one device with a built-in GPS receiver, speaker and a color touchscreen that displays directions and speaks street names. The Princeton, N.J.-based company says the navigation software and map data are preinstalled.

PC Miler Navigator is based on PC Miler 23, designed for truck-specific routing, mileage and mapping. According to ALK, the new PC Miler Navigator update encompasses 117,000 new North American truck restrictions, including updates to Canadian dangerous goods restrictions; also included are 47,000 miles of new and updated truck-restricted roadway, 32,600 North American hazardous materials restrictions, and 12,500 new weight allowances nationwide.

ALK says the newly updated PC Miler Navigator map data includes 2.9 million commercial truck restrictions, such as bridge heights, clearances and load limits; also included are weight limits and allowances, one-way designations, left-hand and dangerous turn restrictions, urban road classifications, and truck-restricted, truck-designated and truck-prohibited roads for the United States and Canada.
