Ryder System Inc. announced it has been named Supplier of the Year by Cisco, recognizing the transportation solutions provider for achieving the highest average Global Balance Scorecard performance in the Innovation and Distribution/Warehousing categories.

The Cisco Service Supply Chain FY2010 Vendor Recognition Program acknowledges the highest performing third-party logistics providers for their outstanding achievements and scores for delivery performance, quality, inventory accuracy and overall account management of the Cisco business compared with any other vendors within each of the award categories. The event celebrates the commitment of Cisco’s preferred suppliers to ongoing customer satisfaction, continuous improvement and accelerated growth.

“Cisco has a remarkable history of quality and innovation, and Ryder is proud to be a part of this tradition of excellence,” says John Williford, Ryder president of Global Supply Chain Solutions. “We are thankful for this award and proud of the Ryder team that supports our valued customer. We look forward to providing flexible, reliable solutions that contribute to Cisco’s future growth and profitability.”

Ryder first began providing domestic shipments of warranty replacement components to customer sites and RFD (rapid fulfillment depot) stock replenishments in 2000. Today, the Ryder facility in Roanoke, Texas, has grown into a Global Distribution Center for Cisco. Services have expanded to also include configuration and software duplication services for top-tier customers, international replenishment shipments to GDC locations abroad, compliance auditing, export documentation creation and retention, item weight/dims reporting and maintenance, engineering change order requests to ensure manufacture revision compliance, and a rebox/relabel program on global stock purges.

“Our suppliers play a key role in our ability to exceed our customers’ expectations for quality and innovation, and Ryder has proven to be a positive contributor,” says Dillard Myers, vice president of global operations for Cisco. “We value our 12-year relationship with Ryder and look forward to their expertise in driving innovation and continuous improvement throughout our network.”
