Pacer International announced the establishment of its philanthropic relationship with the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, of central Ohio, with a $50,000 contribution commitment over five years. Since spring 2006, Pacer employees have supported the Foodbank through several food donation drives, and the company decided to further its support with a monetary commitment to help provide food to families in need within the local communities.

Pacer’s initial contribution already has assisted the Foodbank in the purchase and renovation of a 204,000-square-foot gold LEED certified distribution center. With Pacer’s and other local businesses’ assistance, the Foodbank was able to attract 40 million pounds of food donations during the facility’s inaugural year.

“Over one third of Pacer’s employees live in the communities that surround our office in Dublin, Ohio, where the Mid-Ohio Foodbank provides food for families in need,” says Dan Avramovich, Pacer chairman and chief executive officer. “Our contribution is a way to show Pacer’s commitment to giving back to our local community by helping provide our neighbors with one of the most basic human needs. We are proud to be joining other local businesses in supporting this marvelous organization that is helping so many families in central Ohio.”
