Hendrickson’s Bumper and Trim facility in Crest Hill, Ill., was recognized recently as a Star site, the highest recognition within the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program. OSHA’s team performed a comprehensive audit of the facility in June 2010, including a thorough review of the facilities management leadership practices, employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard and prevention control and safety and health training.

Noteworthy findings, according to the company, include excellent housekeeping, active employee involvement, a comprehensive wellness program, engineering controls exceeding OSHA requirements and utilization of a comprehensive software program designed to track and evaluate accidents, near misses, recordable incidents and training.

Hendrickson Bumper and Trim says entrance into VPP places it into an elite group of organizations that provide exemplary occupational safety and health protection. Hendrickson Bumper and Trim says it is the first facility in the nation to be approved into this program with an NAICS code of 336370.

The company says the achievement is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of every employee at the facility. A formal presentation ceremony is planned for May 13, where OSHA’s regional director and members of OSHA’s audit team will present the VPP plaque to Hendrickson.
