Telvent, a real-time IT solutions and information provider, announced that the company has been selected by Sacyr Concesiones to implement Telvent’s global management platform on the Las Pedrizas Highway in Malaga, Spain. Telvent says the platform will centralize the management of traffic control and safety of tunnels and toll system.
Construction of the Las Pedrizas Highway is aimed at relieving traffic congestion on the Malaga Highway at city access points and achieving an estimated 34 percent reduction in current average intensity on the A-45, which is traveled over by more than 50,000 vehicles per day. The highway being constructed by the Sacyr Group also will enable a substantial reduction in travel time between the cities of Malaga and CĂłrdoba.
Telvent says the solution, based on its control and data acquisition system, will centralize toll and tunnel control systems, as well as traffic, surveillance, security and control and installation maintenance operations, providing this customer with a unified tool to facilitate infrastructure management, increase security and ensure efficiency in toll operations.
Telvent says that with its SmartMobility Road Suite, operators will have real-time information of what happens inside the two tunnels and on the highway, enabling them to respond quickly and effectively to any emergency. The platform also will provide drivers with real-time information on highway conditions, alerting them to accidents, traffic jams and adverse weather conditions, thereby reinforcing user road safety. Finally, the solution will enhance the efficiency and accuracy of toll operations, reducing travel times and minimizing drivers’ inconvenience.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Sacyr Concesiones on the project involving the new Las Pedrizas Highway, which will lead to better traffic flow management in the region,” says Ignacio González, Telvent’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Thanks to the implementation of the Telvent SmartMobility Road Suite, Sacyr Concesiones will gain assurance of the dependability and effectiveness of their operational management, while at the same time reinforcing infrastructure security and user safety.”
