The Port of Long Beach, Calif., announced that Santa Fe Avenue will be closed to through traffic at West Anaheim Street starting Monday, Oct. 24, for about six weeks as construction crews complete an ongoing roadwork project at the busy West Long Beach intersection.

Electronic message signs will be positioned on Santa Fe to alert approaching motorists of the closure. Motorists can use alternative north-south streets such as Canal and Jackson avenues south of West Anaheim; and Canal, Cota and Hayes avenues north of West Anaheim.

West Anaheim will not be closed; at least one lane in each direction will be open at all times, but delays are expected. Motorists traveling on West Anaheim will be able to turn right onto Santa Fe, but will not be able to turn left onto Santa Fe during this final phase of construction of an overall repair project at the intersection of West Anaheim and Santa Fe.
