The Petroleum Equipment Institute has announced that two new PEI safety awareness posters now are available for purchase depicting two safety issues in the petroleum equipment industry: ignition sources and situational awareness. The single-copy price for PEI members is $2 each, or $3for non-PEI members. The safety posters can be viewed and purchased by visiting www.pei.org/shopping.

The posters, produced as part of the PEI Safety Program, were designed by the 2011 PEI Safety Committee and illustrated by artist Bill Patterson of Tulsa, Okla. PEI has printed 33 safety awareness posters since 1992 on industry-specific topics, such as barricading the workplace, lockout/tagout, confined space entry and excavation safety.

The PEI Safety Committee is made up of industry safety experts from across North America and includes Steve Fletcher, Northwest Pump & Equipment Co.; Mike Hays, Double Check Co. Inc.; John Keller, Petroleum Solutions Inc.; Joseph Radermacher, Pump & Meter Service Inc.; Derek Rethmeier, Western Pump Inc.; Dave Roller, United Rentals Trench Safety; Jay Ruth, PumpTex Inc.; and Art Sodermark, Platinum Engineering & Safety Inc.

In addition to the annual posters, the PEI Safety Program authors “Safety Dos and Don’ts,” a series of fact sheets that address safety concerns within the petroleum and energy handling equipment industry and are available free of charge on the PEI Website. The association also publishes two free monthly safety e-newsletters, the SafetyLetter and SafePractices.
