Dean2Ari Fleischer, former press secretary for President George W. Bush, told attendees at the CCJ Spring Symposium that he sees another 50-50 presidential race emerging. “It’s going to be another close election,” Fleischer says. “Mitt Romney is emerging from a very bad primary. Most nominees emerge more popular, but Mitt Romney emerged less popular. He’s rebounding.”

Fleischer says the president’s unfavorable rating keeps declining. “Many independents are indifferent,” he says. “The question now is can Mitt Romney win? Can he campaign? He’s bolstered by the weak economy. Since 1942, no president has been elected with a 48 percent approval rating or with high unemployment. That’s where Obama is now.”
