Pegasus TransTech has been named a semi-finalist for the Small Business of the Year Award by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Pegasus TransTech, perhaps best known for its Transflo and Transflo Express document imaging and management services, is a provider of in-house and outsourced imaging systems designed to streamline billing, collections, payroll, accounts payable, driver qualifications and other paper-intensive processes for the transportation and logistics industry.

“In recent history, the Tampa Bay business community has spawned a number of companies that are relevant on the national or world stage in technology and services,” says Bob Helms, Pegasus TransTech chief executive officer. “We are proud to be a part of this evolving community of Tampa businesses. Companies like Pegasus TransTech demonstrate that a relatively small Tampa business can be a leader in their field, even when competing with giant international corporations. Over the years, our innovative employees overcame great odds to build not just a profitable business, but also a sustainable company that will provide for their families well into the future.”

The 2012 Small Business of the Year Awards honors Tampa businesses employing fewer than 250 people. Semi-finalists in the competition were notified during the first week in June; the winners will be announced at a banquet on Sept. 28 at the Tampa Convention Center.

The Tampa competition poses 16 questions that must be answered in individual essays that are judged on these criteria:
• History & philosophy (solid ethical business practices);
• Management (business goals and planning);
• Operational management (personnel, profitability and administrative processes);
• Innovativeness and response to adversity/economic conditions/competition; and
• Leadership and community contributions (community service involvement, leadership and corporate citizenship).
