Bendix names Hungria COO

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, a provider of active safety, energy management and braking system technologies, has appointed Carlos Hungria chief operating officer and a member of the Bendix executive board.

Hungria joins Bendix after a 30-year career as a part of the Volvo organization. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer at Volvo Powertrain, where he led corporate operations worldwide, introducing Lean Strategy, reaching record production levels for heavy-duty engines and transmissions, and directing the construction of a $200 million manufacturing plant in India.

Hungria, who progressed through the leadership ranks at Volvo, served in a variety of key management roles, including senior vice president at Volvo Powertrain; vice president of Purchasing and Supply Management at Volvo Construction Equipment; vice president of purchasing at Volvo/Mack North America; vice president of Purchasing for Bus North America – Volvo Bus Corp.; and director of Product Development, Purchasing, and Product Planning at Volvo de Brazil. He began his career at Volvo de Brazil as a manufacturing manager – Trucks and Buses.
