Kerri Wirachowsky, a transportation enforcement officer with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, won the Jimmy K. Ammons Grand Champion honors at the recent North American Inspector Championship. The championship was held Aug. 21-25 in Minneapolis in conjunction with the truck driving championship. Wirachowsky, based in Kitchener, Ontario, has been an officer with the transportation ministry since 1990.

Wirachowsky joined 52 other commercial vehicle inspectors from Canada, the United States and Mexico in the ninth annual competition, which is sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. When the inspectors were not busy in competition events, they attended training classes covering areas such as driver interviewing techniques, motor coach inspection and cargo-tank inspection.
