A parking brake issue has prompted Paccar to recall more than 1,800 Kenworth tractors, while an electrical system issue resulted in a recall of more than 5,000 vocational Peterbilt trucks, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents.

Paccar is recalling approximately 1,837 model year 2018-2020 Kenworth T680 and T880 tandem axle trucks equipped with parking brakes on a single axle and certain models of automated manual transmissions.

The company says that during cold temperatures, the signal from the park brake pressure switch to the transmission controller may be delayed, possibly resulting in the vehicle moving unexpectedly.

Paccar is still in the process of developing a remedy for the issue. Owners of affected trucks can contact Paccar customer service at 1-918-259-3258 with recall number 19KWB. NHTSA’s recall number is 19V-275.

Paccar is also recalling approximately 5,051 model year 2017-2020 Peterbilt 520 vocational trucks. The company says that due to undersized wires, the connector between the cab power harness and the power distribution center harness may overheat and melt, possibly resulting in an engine shutdown.

Paccar will notify affected truck owners, and dealers will replace the main power wire to the PDC with a wire of the correct size for free. Owners can contact Paccar customer service at 1-918-259-3258 with recall number 19PBB. NHTSA’s recall number is 19V-282.
