ArvinMeritor’s PRC-425 planetary axle is designed for 20-inch tires and meets the industry trend toward increased driveline torque and loading requirements, the company says. The PRC-425 has an axle capacity of 66,100 pounds and lift capacities ranging from 17,500 to 30,000 pounds. Available axle ratios range from 10.08:1.0 to 25.81:1.
The PRC-425 is designed to reduce end user maintenance costs, according to the company. A standard unitized input pinion seal reduces the likelihood of oil leaks. Extra housing magnets eliminate the requirement of the initial oil drain, and help reduce metallic contamination between scheduled lubricant change intervals.
Options include wheel-mounted wet disc or Q Plus cam brakes and input mounted, hydraulic hold-off/spring-applied caliper brake.
